The Bike Shed has become the first and only bike shop in Cardiff to have staff trained to National Standard Instruction (NSI) level -- a Department of Transport qualification.

Martin, one of our directors, says: "Understandably, if somebody hasn't ridden a bike for some years, there will be a degree of trepidation.

Over the years, we have informally given new and returning cyclists tips on how to ride competently and safely. But with the current boom in leisure and commuter cycling in Cardiff we decided to take the initiative and provide proper training to a recognised national standard. I think we are the first city retailer to take this step.

Modern bikes, once mastered, make people better and safer cyclists, and we can also help them enjoy their leisure or commuter cycling by helping to plan their routes to work or guiding them around the city's growing number of cycle trails."
